Integrum’s OPRA™ Implant System helping patients in new, world-class osseointegration centre in the U.K.

Integrum, a leading provider of innovative solutions for bone anchored prosthetics, is collaborating with The London Clinic and London International Patient Services to offer an innovative surgical service to above-the-knee and arm amputees in the U.K.

The prestigious London Clinic is the first private hospital in the U.K. to offer the osseointegration-based service with the aim of improving limb function and reducing pain and skin-related complications for patients in the U.K. and abroad.

Integrum’s OPRA™ Implant System was selected for the first osseointegration surgery that took place at the centre in November. Performed by Mr Paul Culpan, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, this surgery on an above-knee amputee was supervised by Professor Rickard Brånemark, founder and owner of Integrum.

Professor Brånemark says, “The surgery was done by the book by Mr Paul Culpan. We’re delighted to be collaborating with him, The London Clinic and London International Patient Services. It’s an exciting restart for the OPRA™ Implant System program in the U.K. and we hope that this surgery will pave the way for a deeper collaboration moving forward.”

Mr Paul Culpan is leading the surgical service at The London Clinic. He adds, “There’s robust clinical evidence that osseointegration, which removes the need for a socket prosthesis, significantly improves quality of life and long-term health. We are proud to be using the OPRA™ Implant System and to offer patients from the U.K. and abroad the opportunity to undergo osseointegration by our experienced trauma surgeons in Harley Street and lead in establishing a world-class osseointegration centre at The London Clinic.”
