Dr. Ortiz Catalan specializes in the natural control of artificial limbs via osseointegrated implants. He has developed innovative technology for precise and reliable control of prostheses with direct neural sensory feedback, as well as novel treatments for phantom limb pain. He led the development of the world’s first robotic prosthesis integrated to bone, nerves and muscles. He is affiliated with the Biomedical Signals and Systems research group at Chalmers University of Technology, working in close collaboration with the Center for Advanced Reconstruction of Extremities (C.A.R.E.), Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Dr. Ortiz Catalan is regarded as an expert in his field and he is frequently invited as speaker at international scientific conferences and to lecture at universities worldwide.
