Integrum expands in Australia with a new center in Sydney
Australia is one of the leading countries in the world when it comes to Osseointegration for Amputation Rehabilitation. The OPRA™ Implant System allows for direct connection of an artificial limb to the skeleton, making the prosthesis a true extension of one’s body.
The first osseointegration case with the OPRA™ Implant System has just been performed by Dr Sean Nicklin and Dr Phil Huang at Prince of Wales Private hospital in Sydney. Dr Nicklin is the head of the plastic surgery Unit at Prince of Wales Public Hospital and Dr Huang is an orthopaedic lower limb surgeon with a biomedical engineering background who works at the Mater Hospital in North Sydney.
The Prince of Wales Private Hospital is one of the leading private hospitals in Sydney which specializes in various disciplines including neurosurgery and orthopaedics. It has a long and reputed history of providing quality health care and surgical excellence.

Besides Dr Sean Nicklin and Dr Phil Huang, the program in Sydney will also be headed by Dr Greg Bowring; a rehab specialist who heads one of the largest amputee services in Sydney.

The OPRA™ Implant System was introduced in Australia by Dr Brånemark in 1995 in collaboration with the Alfred Hospital, which is the leading trauma hospital in Melbourne. The Plastic, Hand & Faciomaxillary Surgery Unit, Melbourne, Victoria - which hosts the A.S.A.P Advanced Surgical Amputation Programme, is headed by Mr. Steven Gray and Dr. Frank Bruscino-Raiola – Senior Plastic Surgeon & Director of Surgical Unit.
